Funding and Applications

If you are interested in any of the project areas in our lab, please contact Peter Doerner at any time.

We welcome applications at any time from colleagues at any stage of their career (placements, masters, PhD, Sabbatical and visiting scientists).  Funded positions are very limited, so self-funded applicants, or investigators that have secured, or aim to secure funding from granting agencies in their countries are encouraged.

Some support at the PhD student level is available from Edinburgh University and the School of Biological Sciences, which provide a number of competitive PhD scholarship schemes for well-qualified students (British, EU and International) with an interest in molecular plant science.  Note the application deadlines for these schemes are in December.  A further excellent opportunity for funded PhD Fellowships is The Darwin Trust, which is targeted at EU and International students, also with an annual deadline in December.  Applicants interested to apply to the Darwin Trust should contact Peter Doerner with a CV and names of three referees prior to November 30. Additional international funding opportunities are listed below.

Placements from European students (minimum 3 months, preferably 6 months) that wish to gain laboratory experience in an English-speaking environment are highly encouraged.  Please contact Peter Doerner at any time for further information on suitable projects and training schemes.
